Fairydrops Mascara

I personally believe that "Asian" branded mascaras works wonders for me, I like to think that they inject a special ingredient into the formula so that it works with my lashes (a little crazy, but someone needs to explain how they do it?!)
I remember watching beauty videos on youtube a couple years ago to see that the Fairydrops mascara was the new craze. Hearing about the fibres and the unique wand shape intrigued me as a lil makeup newbie.
Anyways after chucking out my beloved Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara from using it daily, I finally got the chance of opening my unused Fairydrops mascara that I've been craving to try out. 

As always, packaging to me is like icing on the cake.

I just love the white cartoonish artworks, it looks like a combination of anime crossed with a cartoon show. And also the metallic pink body is so eye catching, it makes it so much easier spotting the mascara from afar in the clutter of my makeup which really helps when I'm in a rush.

Honestly if there was a line of makeup where they packaged their products with a pink metallic case, I would cry. IT JUST LOOKS SO DAMN GOOD!!

Aside from the lovely packaging, Fairydrops is known for its wand shape (I like to think of it as 3 blobs), as well as the fibers in the formula to create a lengthening effect.

My main concern with my lashes is keeping a curl as well as separating the lashes while keeping it voluminous. But if a mascara can hold a curl, thats still good enough for me even if it doesn't tick the other boxes.

With the Fairydrops Mascara Im proud to say that it ticks everything in the good books for me. The pros outweighs the cons for it.

Theres something about the way my lashes look with the Fairydrops Mascara that I love. I think its because it holds a friggin curl and separates the lashes without a clump, whats more to love?!

I find that you can build it up for more length without it becoming clumpy as the fibres helps tremendously in lengthening.

The oils on my lids (aka lid sweat) actually cant defeat the formula to this as I'm always coming back home at the end of the day with my lashes looking the same way as it did after applying mascara to them.

Even if you shed tears or have water splashed onto your eyes, this fella will not budge. 

In saying this though, you do need an oil based remover to remove the mascara properly.

Looking at the pictures above, it makes me gush over this mascara. But like I said how the pros outweigh the cons, they really do.

Theres only 2 things about this mascara that I wouldn't say would make it my all round holy grail mascara.

Sadly the wand is a tad too big for me to neatly apply it to my bottom lashes without it smudging. Though working with it slowly while looking closely to a mirror will prevent the smudging, I am a lazy person so if a mascara can do the job quick its a winner but sadly for the Fairydrops its not that great for the bottom lash department.

Lastly one that doesn't really bother me that greatly is the distribution of the fibres. Most of the time it blends in greatly with the top lashes with no problem but for my bottom lashes it doesn't evenly spread across all my bottom lashes. Some days I might get one fibre stuck onto one lash while the other lashes get no fibre, so I usually end up pulling the fibre off in order to make my lashes look even. 

I have been using this as my go-to mascara, as theres no need to think whether this will smudge or not or if my lashes will be curled. Highly recommend this to those who have issues with their mascara not being able to with stand a curl!

Benefit They're Real Mascara

Been quite a while since ive done a mascara review so i thought why not do one. I've been long overdue for one anyways! 

Probably the only full sized mascara ive used and havent reviewed yet is the Benefit They're Real mascara. I've had this for a couple of months now, gifted to me from my Brother for one of my birthday presents! But the thing is i actually wrote him a list of products which contained products i really wanted or ones that i kind of want to try and the Benefit mascara was pretty much one that didnt really catch my attention but from all the hype it got it was one that i was willing to try.

 With the Benefit They're Real line, which contains the Push-up Liner and the Mascara, the body shape is pretty much makes the packaging a whole lot better. I mean obviously the shiny purply grey barrel will catch attention of many but its the little things that makes the products stand out from other mascaras. The bottom starts off circular while it gradually turns into a square shaped barrel, which i love! It's like the chubbier version of the liner. Though it may be a downside if youre travelling as the mascara is quite the bulky one and will take up some space if you're low on it.

Whats different about the mascara wand is that it is a plastic brush and the bristles extends down to the very tip creating a dome-like wand, which is supposed to help with "fanning" out the corner lashes.

At first that was something different to me and definitely exciting but when it came down to applying the mascara to my lashes, it was somewhat of a mess as my eyes are small and hooded and if you chuck in a mascara with a big wand, it is tough to avoid getting mascara on your lids. The bristles at the very tip did help with the corner lashes but it didnt help separate the lashes and was also the perpetrator of getting mascara on my lids.

You can see on the third picture that the mascara does hold a curl pretty well after applying it and letting it set. It lengthened well and was quite good in separating! I find it weird for me to go out with just mascara as i just dont think it suits me at all as im an eyeliner girl so I did line my eyes with some purple eyeliner which did make the lashes start to droop down a bit.

I went out shopping for 3 hours and did go out in the heat for some time which resulted in just a small bit of smudging and flaking but the lashes remained undrooped which is the only upside. You cant really see the smudging in the last picture but it did smudge underneath the lower lashes which is no surprise as all the mascaras ive tried smudge whenever i apply it to the lower lashline. My other eye on the other hand did end up flaking a small bit but the mascara didnt claim to be flake-free just smudge-proof.

This isnt my all time favourite mascara, i just find it average. With me, my lashes look the same 80% of the time with any type of mascara on so I could find some cheaper alternatives with a different formula but overall the same look. This mascara doesnt claim to be waterproof but it does have a formula which is a pain to remove when on the lashes, you will need an oil-based makeup remover to remove it. 

I will be using this once school starts (tomorrow, yay *sarcasm*) just to make use of it. But most likely wont fork out $38 to buy it.

What are your thoughts on Benefit They're Real Mascara? Have you tried it/planning on trying it?

Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister

I find that Western branded mascara has always never liked me. Whenever I think I found a decent mascara, it has either smudged, flaked or just cannot hold a curl through the day.

So I've just come to the conclusion that I really only suit Asian branded mascaras and their formulas.

And this one is one of my holy grail mascaras...to the top lashes though.

I purchased this during my trip to Hong Kong last year. It costed me $138 HK ($19 AUD at the time). To be honest I didnt really look at the price when I put this in my basket, I just knew that I had to try out the Majolica Majorca mascaras because of the amazing formulas and the unique mascara wand that everyone raves about. But for $19 AUD I would definitely not purchase this if it was sold in Australian stores.

I picked up Edge Meister on a whim, instead of Frame Plus which I was looking for originally. But I have no idea what the difference is between them two, the packaging is somewhat the same besides the pink fancy framing at the front and maybe the formula?

But can I say how much I love the packaging?! The black and gold packaging and the fancy smancy detailing at the front and also the top. It is the first thing I see when I choose a mascara to use.

The main thing about this mascara is the brush wand. Compared with most mascara wands, this one is flat and the 'bristles' are located at the top and bottom, so it is actually quite useful to coat the bottom lashes.

So if you're wondering how on earth do you even use this thing?! The zig zagging method comes in handy. I use the curved side of the wand to coat my top lashes while doing a zag zag motion, while the other end I use to coat my bottom lashes.

This is probably the only mascara I've used that contains fibres in it. I find that you can build it up to whatever length you want, but I havent really tested the maximum length you can get with it yet since Im more interested in volume rather than length.

But the reason why it is one of my HGs is because it can hold a curl and it is the most waterproof mascara I know of. 

As I said before it does not last on my bottom lashes, it starts to smudge on the 3 hour mark which is a shame since it lasts on the top lashes until you remove it. And can I say that it is a pain to remove! 

I know one of my friends uses this mascara and she swears that it lasts underwater and I can definitely see it since I've tested it in the shower and it does not smudge but it does start to come off gradually. (though im not sure if it's the same as in a swimming pool).

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a super long lasting mascara but maybe not for people looking for a bottom lash mascara especially with oily lids.

Rimmel London The Max Bold Curves Mascara - Black

Got this mascara in a part of the Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack (post here).

Rimmel Mascaras honestly never caught my eye (besides the bright colours), I was always interested in the Maybelline mascaras so I was happy to get it in the gift pack. 

I needed to try out some new mascaras, which is pretty hard for me to find the perfect mascara. I like to look for non clumpy, flake free, holds a curl, lasts all day and easy to take off mascaras. (I have high expectations in my mascaras).

Claims to give 'Big, bold lashes in a flash, Exponential Volume and Lift Mascara.

The wand

The wand really shocked me when I pulled it out of the tube, it was pretty big. The curved shape was supposed to 'curl' and lift your lashes, which never works in my books since I have stick straight lashes, but the curved shape was big enough to cup majority of my lashes in one sweep.

The formula was quite drying and clumpy on the bristles which you would have to wipe off the excess. 

I am no mascara expert but the brush itself seemed like one of those cliché curling/volumising brush.

Sad to say I didn't test the lasting power since I gave this mascara away to my friend due to the fact that it didn't hold a curl. After a few minutes it started to droop. Though I did like how it made my lashes look, it wasn't that clump, lengthened a tiny bit and volumised a tiny bit, looked very natural and it didn't flake!

I would'nt repurchase this but for those who would like to try this mascara out you can get this at Priceline for $15.50 or any store that stocks up on Rimmel products! :)

Maybelline One by One Mascara- Blackest Black

Bought the Washable Maybelline One by One Mascara awhile back when it was on sale. But I was waiting until I got my camera so I could get good pictures of the wand. 

Got the one in Blackest Black

Back in the day's when I used my iphone camera...

On the back it claimed that it was:

•  Exclusive lash catcher brush catches, coats and de-clumps every single lash for our most refined volume from root-to-tip.
• Instant clump-free volume.
• Ophthalmologist tested
• Contact lens safe

This is actually the second mascara that I have ever used so I can only compare it with my first (Maybelline The Falsies).

Price: $10

Like I said, it was on sale at Priceline for $10. I had to choose between all the Maybelline mascaras but I chose the Maybelline One by One because I heard some really good reviews on it on Youtube so I decided to try it and see how it goes. I also bought the washable one because the waterproof mascaras are a pain to take off. 

Packaging: 4/5

Just like most of the other Maybelline mascaras, they have the same tube shape which I find pretty cool considering that it makes me want to collect them all! 

When you open the tube you get this massive wand and sadly leftover mascara product at the end that I end up scraping off (is there any mascara that doesnt do this?).

Anyways the wand is actually bendy which I like and has rubber bristles! (also a bonus for me)

The mascara really does lengthen & volumise your lashes if you give it a few coats. I only do 1 coat of mascara because I like the way it defines my lashes without it looking un-natural. The thing about this mascara is it makes it look like you're wearing false lashes! So I put on the mascara and left it until my mum came back home and she thought I was wearing false lashes, pretty amazing right?

But what I really like about this mascara is that it lasts the whole day without smudging and its not waterproof and I have super oily eyelids... I love this mascara. But this does flake a lot, I found so much flakes underneath my eye at the end of the day, but as long as it doesnt smudge Im happy so I didn't really mind the flaking.

This is also really easy to remove, just removing it with water or makeup remover, I remove it with warm water.

Conclusion:

This is my favourite mascara currently!

Haul- Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack

Bought the Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack a few weeks ago at Priceline just for $9, it was marked down from $24.95 to $9 which was a very good deal even though the products were probably on the shelves for a year. But I needed a new eyeliner and instead of buying an eyeliner for $9 I got to have nailpolish, mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner for the same price also including a cute bag that stored them all! 

So inside the bag it contained

• Glam'Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in 'Smokey Noir'

• The Max Bold Curves Mascara in 'Black'

The G Mesh Bag that stored all the products, it was very shiney and flowy. It makes a pretty cool makeup bag for travelling.

I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in '066 Cranberry Zest'

It was a hot pink colour on the nails which also smelt like cherries!

I wasn't really into dark colours on my nails but I like doing nail art so this colour might come in handy.

Glam'Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in 'Smokey Noir'

When I saw that the pack came with this, I immediately wanted this. I only thing I usually wear on my eyes is just a very sheer eyeshadow and eyeliner. But I did have a thing for dark, neutral eyeshadows. The colour on the far right made me want it more.

The Max Bold Curves Mascara in 'Black'

Saw this and wasn't really sure if I was going to like it or not, I mean I already had a masara favourite (Maybelline One By One..review coming soon) so I was like, sure why not try a new mascara?!

Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in 'Jet Black'

I pretty much died on the inside when I saw that this was also in the bag. I had been wanting to buy this eyeliner for so long after many people raving about it online. So of course I bought the pack just because of this.

I will be doing reviews on each of the products in the future!
