Kiehl's Lip Balm

While freaking out at Sasa during my Macau trip back in October, I impulsively put random products into my basket if they were a brand or asian product I've always wanted to try.
The Kiehls Lip Balm was one of them.

Costed me 80 patacas (around $11 AUD).
I was actually having a hard time choosing whether to buy it or not, I mean $11 for a lip balm?! I couldve bought around 3 EOS lipbalms instead of this!
Though the brand Kiehls I've always wanted to try, so I forced myself to try it out.

I've never seen a lipbalm that contains SPF 4 and with a quick internet research I found that SPF 4 blocks 75% of UVB rays! But not as much as some other lipbalms with SPF 20+, better than nothing though

The product is stored in a plastic white tube and disperses out from a flat hole, exactly like the Lucas Papaw Ointment.

I've used quite a lot of lipbalms in the past and this product was just an average product for me. It did a decent job at moisturizing, a little goes a long way and last on the lips for around 30 mins before it soaks in your lips. The product itself isnt liquidly but not gel-like, it melts onto your lips once it meets your lips, a bit like the Natures Care Paw Paw lip balm.
For $11 I wouldn't repurchase this, there are many lipbalms in the market that do a better job at moisturizing.

Nivea Pure & Natural Milk & Honey and Chamomile & Calendula

Having dry lips frequently, I will always be using a lip balm day and night. And being a lipbalm junkie, I'm always happy to try different lipbalms but for now  I'm only just starting on Nivea before I test out different brands.
I actually used a Priceline voucher on these lipbalms as well as 5 other lipbalms but they were already on sale for $3.34 each, bargain!

Chamomile & Calendula  Ingredients
Milk & Honey Ingredients
On the back it states that:

Chamomile & Calendula:
-soothes sensitive lips with extra mild care
-100% free of preservatives
-With natural ingredients - certified organic shea butter and natural jojoba oil

Milk & Honey:
-Pampers your lips with extra rich care
-100% free of preservatives
-With natural ingredients - certified organic shea butter and natural jojoba oil

I picked the two lipbalms in the pure & natural range 'Chamomile & Calendula' and 'Milk & Honey'

I did some research on their website and their main ingredient is very natural so perfect for those looking for the natural lipbalm option.

Chamomile & Calendula
  • Camomile – a wound-healing ingredient that leaves chapped lips wonderfully soft
  • Calendula – traditionally used to soothe and alleviate inflammation.
Milk & Honey
  • Milk – rich in all important amino acids, vitamins and minerals
  • Honey – contains a high amount of antioxidants and has effective healing properties.

The scent of these lipbalms dont linger on the lips but smell quite noticeable in the tube. Honestly the Chamomile & Calendula scent isn't my favourite it smells like one of those floral fragrant pillows they sell during mothers day, I rather prefer the Milk & Honey because it smells a lot like honey.

Compared to my all time favourite lipbalm, the Nivea Essential Care. This lipbalm is a lot thinner and requires going back forth tons of times until you get a thicker moisturising consistency like the Essential Care. But unlike the Essential Care the lipbalm doesn't reach to my standards in its moisturising compartment.
It feels as if I'm just applying a layer of lipbalm that does nothing.

With an equal amount of money you could just buy the Essential Care lipbalm which actually does something.
Sad to say that this was a disappointment for me and I wouldn't repurchase this again.
I would recommend just saving your money on a different lipbalm.

Nivea Essential Care Lipbalm

[[ First off I would like to say Gong Hei Fat Choi! (probably not spelt like that, sorry for my bad Chinese) Happy early Chinese New Year to everyone! ]]

Now onto the review...

So a few of you should know that I suffer from extremely dry lips. (I have a habit of licking my lips due to my awkwardness or nervousness) and I never carry a lip balm with me since whenever I bring out my EOS lipbalm, most of my friends will look at it like it's a foreign object. They aren't very known to the makeup world sadly...
But last year I had a new student in my class and she always had a lipbalm with her, I asked her what lipbalm it was and it was the Nivea Essential Care Lipbalm, she told me it was the best and then of course I had to buy it.
I was really hesitant to buy it because I know the price is higher than the usual lipbalms but I did go and google it, if it was worth the buy or not. There was massive raves on this one, literally, so I had my hopes on this lipbalm really high.

Close-up of the back
Ingredients

I bought this at Priceline for $4.49.
All the Nivea Lip balms usually look like this but the colour and name is different.
I got the one in the blue tube.
I actually really like how the packaging is like a lipstick instead of the lid being a small cap.

The back

When you open it, it comes with quite a lot of product!
I've been using this everyday, in the morning, afternoon and before I go to bed, reapplying when-ever it is necessary.
So far I only have half of what I had when I bought this.
The texture is so soft and creamy once you apply it on your lips!  What I really hate is how lip balms go really hard in the colder weather so it takes forever to warm the product up and make it apply softly, but this lipbalm just melts on your lips!
The actual product is also amazing, you only need to apply this around 3-4 times a day if you have chapped lips then you are back with your normal lips. This product is definitely a lifesaver and my HG lipbalm!
The only bad thing I have about this, is that the price isn't my cup of tea and it does run low pretty fast. (I'll probably have to go buy a back up one soon).
Other than that I really don't have any complaints. I will be repurchasing this tomorrow as it is currently on sale at Priceline for $3.34!

Have you tried the Nivea lipbalms? Which are your favourites out of them all?

Nature's Care Paw Paw Lip Balm

I don't know about you, but whenever I walked around Priceline I always notice this, hanging on the lip balm  wall (what I call the area in Priceline full of Lip Balms) it always seemed to catch my eyes, in its lovely pink packaging. But I never stopped to see what it was, but when I was researching Paw Paw ointments I found out what the pink thing in the lip balm wall was, and I decided to go try it out.

Bought this for $2.96, compared to the Lucas Papaw Ointment, it's a lot cheaper!
I've also heard that it works wonders just like the Lucas Papaw Ointment though it doesn't contain Petroleum Jelly.

The ingredients & Directions

When you take it out of the box, it did surprise me a little, since it was a lot smaller then I thought it would be. Perfect to throw into your pocket or bag when you go out though!

when you opened the cap, the applicator is slanted. What I like to look for is slanted applicators when it comes to these. It's a lot easier to apply since you don't need your fingers, I usually like to have long nails so it comes in handy.

Now when it comes to the product, it comes out as a oily sticky liquid, but when its colder the product becomes a bit like petroleum jelly, but still looks like oil when applied on the lips. I didn't really like the feeling since it just felt like you had oil on your lips, but what I did like what the smell, smelt strongly of mango, but don't get fooled by the smell because it tasted the opposite, it wasn't disgustingly bad just tasted...meh.
Now it stated that it "Soothes dry and chapped lips naturally" and yes I agree to that only if you kept reapplying it, it didn't work instantly or the day after, it worked slowly for me compared to Lucas Papaw Ointment. Which is why I wouldn't repurchase this but it comes to good use to keep the lips moisturised.

EOS Lip Balm- Honeysuckle Honeydew & Summer Fruit

Favourite lip balms of all time! :)

I've heard so much hype about the EOS lip balms, about how it's so adorable in its egg shape and its wide range of different colours and flavours.
EOS stands for the "Evolution of smooth" the brand specialises in lipbalms, creams and lotions.
On the plastic packaging the EOS lipbalms are 100% Natural, 95% Organic and not tested on animals. Now that already attracts to me already.
I did a little researching and went on their website.
  • Long-lasting moisture [[Long lasting stood out to me the most!]]
  • Shea butter & vitamin E [[Good for the heart and skin]]
  • Smoothes on clear
  • New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips [[Makes it extra easy to use]]
  • Twist-off top [[It helps keep the top on, the tops that you pull off can easily be opened]]
  • Gluten-free [[My friend has a gluten allergy so this would be perfect for her!]]
  • Paraben-free
  • Petrolatum-free
  • Phthalate-free

So my dad went back to Hong Kong and I gave him a list of makeup products to get from SaSa. He came back with my EOS lipbalms in Summer Fruit and Honeysuckle Honeydew.
Basically I let my dad buy any of the EOS lipbalms since I didn't have a particular flavour/colour I wanted, I was maybe wanting the yellow one because it was yellow (favourite colour) and it was a lemon flavour (I love lemons haha) but the SPF part really put me off, i know its good and all but I have this OCD/habit in thinking that SPF makes the skin look greasy (like in foundations or sunscreen) I have no idea how that would work in lipbalm form though, but I'll let you know that my P.O.V is way off.

Price: 39 HK Dollars (Around $5 in AUD)

The price is definitely worth it. Even though its quite expensive if you think about it. Most lipbalms are around $3-$4 but I would be willing to buy it bbecause its just soo much cuter and easier to use than most lipbalms.

Packaging: 5/5

The packaging is just so cute, the colours are also adorable, I just want to collect them all because they would look cool as a decoration on my desk haha.

Product: 5/5

Pros:

-Tastes like their name/flavour. No joke, I mostly only use EOS just because I like to taste it.
-The smell is heavenly aswell
-Moisturises well! Makes my lips smooth and soft the day after :D
-Sosososo cute packaging.
-Easy to apply on the lips, I dont even have to open my mouth to apply it.

Cons:

-Hard to get in Australia

Conclusion:

Overall this is a must have product that you can use everyday, just pop it into your bag and use it. I was happy with my lips after the use and the taste and smell makes me want to eat it, even though I already do.
