Rimmel London The Max Bold Curves Mascara - Black

Got this mascara in a part of the Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack (post here).
Rimmel Mascaras honestly never caught my eye (besides the bright colours), I was always interested in the Maybelline mascaras so I was happy to get it in the gift pack.
I needed to try out some new mascaras, which is pretty hard for me to find the perfect mascara. I like to look for non clumpy, flake free, holds a curl, lasts all day and easy to take off mascaras. (I have high expectations in my mascaras).

Back of the tube
Got the colour in 001 Black

Claims to give 'Big, bold lashes in a flash, Exponential Volume and Lift Mascara.

The wand

The wand really shocked me when I pulled it out of the tube, it was pretty big. The curved shape was supposed to 'curl' and lift your lashes, which never works in my books since I have stick straight lashes, but the curved shape was big enough to cup majority of my lashes in one sweep.
The formula was quite drying and clumpy on the bristles which you would have to wipe off the excess.
I am no mascara expert but the brush itself seemed like one of those cliché curling/volumising brush.

Bare lashes, curled lashes, one coat of mascara...droop
Sad to say I didn't test the lasting power since I gave this mascara away to my friend due to the fact that it didn't hold a curl. After a few minutes it started to droop. Though I did like how it made my lashes look, it wasn't that clump, lengthened a tiny bit and volumised a tiny bit, looked very natural and it didn't flake!
I would'nt repurchase this but for those who would like to try this mascara out you can get this at Priceline for $15.50 or any store that stocks up on Rimmel products! :)

Shopping Spree Haul!

Seeing as though I had nothing to save up up, I thought why not have a shopping spree? It's nice to indulge yourself and try some new things once in a while! So the blazer I bought for my job interview a while ago, I actually didn't wear to my interview and luckily I didn't rip off the tag, I got my refund which added $40 to my spree budget :D (I had $100 on me)

Rimmel Match Perfection 2 in 1 Concealer & Highlighter in 010 Ivory @ Priceline - $11.16

I actually didnt buy this for myself, my friend asked me to get her this concealer off of ebay but I found out Priceline sold it for cheaper so I went and got this for her. I heard some good reviews of this!

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in 001 Dark Brown @ Priceline - $6.80

I've have my eyes on this for a while now, I'm not a fan of eyebrow pencils since I prefer the natural look but I'm glad I finally crossed this off my shopping list! Might as well try it out.

Essence Smokey Eyes Brush @ Priceline - $2.55

So a while back I was searching for crease brushes, and I came across this. Although I ordered a Sigma crease brush, I couldnt stand the wait and got this as a brush to use before the Sigma one arrived. I tried it out when I got home and I must say that it is amazing. Going to buy a second one as a backup!

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 120 Classic Ivory @ Big W - $10.24

I was actually contemplating between this powder or the Rimmel one, while I was at Priceline, but I said no. Then I was walking around Big W and saw this on sale and yes..I did say yes

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 005 Silk Beige @ Priceline - $10.36

I've seen this everywhere! It was one of those products I wanted but also didn't one, kind of like an unnecessary thing. But my powder was low and I needed one so I chose this one.

BOE Beauty Bronzer in #1 St Tropez Bronzing Powder @ Big W - $2

This was cleared for $2 at Big W, I thought why not, it was $2 and I'm still on the path of trying new bronzers.

BOE Beauty Pressed Powder Compact in #1 Translucent F/Powder @ Big W - $2

You're probably wondering why did I buy so much finishing powders... I wonder why myself. But it was just calling out my name in its clearance bowl. :(

Sunsilk Conditioner for Damaged Hair @ Safeway - $4.79

Ran out of my previous conditioner and needed to get this ASAP since my ends started feeling dry again. I can say this conditioner is a lifesaver, made my ends silky smooth (weird since I straighten my hair every day without heat protectant..oops). Anyone want a review on this?

Dettol Hand Sanitizer @ Safeway - $2.99

One of those products you need in your purse if you're feeling germaphobic!

Models Prefer Manicure 5 PC Set @ Priceline - $5

I was looking for new tweezers and nail file and came across this, came in a few colours but I preferred the black one the most! I've already started using this, so a review should be coming very soon!

Face of Australia Lip Quench in Lychee Crush @ Priceline - $9.45

Saw a few blog posts about this and the colour looked so pretty on the lips, cannot wait to try it (suffering from chapped lips)

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 16 @ Priceline - $9.56

This has always been on my wishlist but I never decided the colour i wanted, I was contemplating between the coral one and this, and I thought to just try this one out since coral might be too bright for me.

[[ If you're wondering, the cotton buds are from Big W for $1, not that interesting ]]

HyunA Ice-Cream MV Eye Makeup

Recently HyunA came out with a new MV for Ice-Cream, to be honest I don't really like the song but HyunA was so pretty in the music video!
She had different looks for different scenes and the eye makeup I did was when she was by the icecream truck. There were a few other makeup looks but this one stood out to me the most!

The stars shows the eyeshadows I used for this look.
For the eyeshadow I'll be using my 48 Eyeshadow Pallette by DB which my friend got me as a birthday present last year! I actually rarely use it since I don't use shimmery eyeshadows or bright colours. Starting to use it more now.

Also if you're wondering, I'm using my Ecotools Eyeshadow brush to apply most of the eyeshadows and I'm using a gel eyeliner brush that comes with the Maybelline gel eyeliner to make a wing.

Step 1: Apply your base

Using my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk" I applied it all around my eyes blending it up to the crease.

Step 2:  Orange eyeshadow

Using my eyeshadow brush, mixing and applying colours 1&2 to the inner corners and blending it up to the crease. Afterwards using the tip of the eyeshadow brush to extend the orange eyeshadow halfway on the lower lashline.

Step 3: Light Blue eyeshadow

Mixing colours 1&2 together to create a light blue shade. I applied it all over the lid and up to the crease, blending in with the orange to create a transition effect.

Step 4: Dark blue eyeshadow

Mixing colours 1,2& a bit of 3. Using the tip of the eyeshadow brush, apply the eyeshadow to the outer lower lashine and extending the line towards the lighter blue shadow.

Step 5: Eyeliner

Using my Rimmel Glam' Eyes Professional Liquid Liner, lining my eyes except stopping at the end of where my lashes are.

Step 6: The wing

Using a black eyeshadow and a small eyeliner brush, make a wing that extends from the end of the liquid eyeliner then straight across then connect the tip to the bottom lashline.

Step 7: Pencil Eyeliner

Using my Milani Liquif'eye black pencil eyeliner, line the entire waterline then the inner corners.

Step 8: Mascara

Curling my lashes then applying Maybelline The Falsies to the top and bottom lashes.

And then you're finished!
I was going to make a video version of this tutorial, except I still havent found the right position to put my camera and film, so just wait until I buy a tripod and one day I will start making beauty videos!

Essence Kajal Eye Pencil- Neon Sweetie

Months ago I went shopping at Target and never got to do this review, since I never ended up using this eyeliner daily, but I did use it one day while finding a new eye look.
So Essence is usually found at Target and Priceline, I found this at Targets bargain basket filled with Essence products, this eyeliner was $1 so I bought 2 since my favourite colour is yellow and I love eyeliners!
It claims it has high precision application and is long-lasting.

I found it pretty odd how they were the same colours on the packaging but on the product one was a lighter yellow than the other.

Pros:

-Pigmented
-Soft
-Easy to apply
-Colour is buildable

Cons:

-Didn't last long, if you touched it it would fade almost immediately!
-The colour is discontinued I think, I can't find the colour anymore.

Maybelline One by One Mascara- Blackest Black

Bought the Washable Maybelline One by One Mascara awhile back when it was on sale. But I was waiting until I got my camera so I could get good pictures of the wand.
Got the one in Blackest Black
Back in the day's when I used my iphone camera...
On the back it claimed that it was:
  •  Exclusive lash catcher brush catches, coats and de-clumps every single lash for our most refined volume from root-to-tip.
  • Instant clump-free volume.
  • Ophthalmologist tested
  • Contact lens safe
This is actually the second mascara that I have ever used so I can only compare it with my first (Maybelline The Falsies).

Price: $10

Like I said, it was on sale at Priceline for $10. I had to choose between all the Maybelline mascaras but I chose the Maybelline One by One because I heard some really good reviews on it on Youtube so I decided to try it and see how it goes. I also bought the washable one because the waterproof mascaras are a pain to take off.

Packaging: 4/5

Just like most of the other Maybelline mascaras, they have the same tube shape which I find pretty cool considering that it makes me want to collect them all!
When you open the tube you get this massive wand and sadly leftover mascara product at the end that I end up scraping off (is there any mascara that doesnt do this?).
Anyways the wand is actually bendy which I like and has rubber bristles! (also a bonus for me)

Close up of the bristles.

Product: 5/5

The mascara really does lengthen & volumise your lashes if you give it a few coats. I only do 1 coat of mascara because I like the way it defines my lashes without it looking un-natural. The thing about this mascara is it makes it look like you're wearing false lashes! So I put on the mascara and left it until my mum came back home and she thought I was wearing false lashes, pretty amazing right?
But what I really like about this mascara is that it lasts the whole day without smudging and its not waterproof and I have super oily eyelids... I love this mascara. But this does flake a lot, I found so much flakes underneath my eye at the end of the day, but as long as it doesnt smudge Im happy so I didn't really mind the flaking.
This is also really easy to remove, just removing it with water or makeup remover, I remove it with warm water.

Conclusion:

This is my favourite mascara currently!

EOS Lip Balm- Honeysuckle Honeydew & Summer Fruit

Favourite lip balms of all time! :)

I've heard so much hype about the EOS lip balms, about how it's so adorable in its egg shape and its wide range of different colours and flavours.
EOS stands for the "Evolution of smooth" the brand specialises in lipbalms, creams and lotions.
On the plastic packaging the EOS lipbalms are 100% Natural, 95% Organic and not tested on animals. Now that already attracts to me already.
I did a little researching and went on their website.
  • Long-lasting moisture [[Long lasting stood out to me the most!]]
  • Shea butter & vitamin E [[Good for the heart and skin]]
  • Smoothes on clear
  • New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips [[Makes it extra easy to use]]
  • Twist-off top [[It helps keep the top on, the tops that you pull off can easily be opened]]
  • Gluten-free [[My friend has a gluten allergy so this would be perfect for her!]]
  • Paraben-free
  • Petrolatum-free
  • Phthalate-free

So my dad went back to Hong Kong and I gave him a list of makeup products to get from SaSa. He came back with my EOS lipbalms in Summer Fruit and Honeysuckle Honeydew.
Basically I let my dad buy any of the EOS lipbalms since I didn't have a particular flavour/colour I wanted, I was maybe wanting the yellow one because it was yellow (favourite colour) and it was a lemon flavour (I love lemons haha) but the SPF part really put me off, i know its good and all but I have this OCD/habit in thinking that SPF makes the skin look greasy (like in foundations or sunscreen) I have no idea how that would work in lipbalm form though, but I'll let you know that my P.O.V is way off.

Price: 39 HK Dollars (Around $5 in AUD)

The price is definitely worth it. Even though its quite expensive if you think about it. Most lipbalms are around $3-$4 but I would be willing to buy it bbecause its just soo much cuter and easier to use than most lipbalms.

Packaging: 5/5

The packaging is just so cute, the colours are also adorable, I just want to collect them all because they would look cool as a decoration on my desk haha.

Product: 5/5

Pros:

-Tastes like their name/flavour. No joke, I mostly only use EOS just because I like to taste it.
-The smell is heavenly aswell
-Moisturises well! Makes my lips smooth and soft the day after :D
-Sosososo cute packaging.
-Easy to apply on the lips, I dont even have to open my mouth to apply it.

Cons:

-Hard to get in Australia

Conclusion:

Overall this is a must have product that you can use everyday, just pop it into your bag and use it. I was happy with my lips after the use and the taste and smell makes me want to eat it, even though I already do.

Dollywink Pencil Eyeliner - Black

My dad came back from Hong Kong/Macau just yesterday and bought me some makeup that I requested which I'll prob be doing more reviews on, so watch out for an EOS Lip Balm review and Skin 79 Super BB Triple Function!
Anyways this review will be about the Dollywink Pencil Eyeliner in Black, honestly I asked my dad to get the Liquid Eyeliner incase I ran out of present one but I did want to try the pencil one out so Im still happy (:

Top: Liquid Eyeliner  Bottom: Pencil Eyeliner
Front & Back view

Price: HK$79 around AUS$9-$10

The price really didn't matter to me since my dad bought it haha, but if I used my own money to buy it I would definitely consider getting it! [[You will see why later on]]

Packaging: 4/5 Stars

Honestly, the packaging is the cutest I have ever seen, it just makes me want all the eyeliners to be packaged like it! The only downside to it is taking the lid on/off, i mean its easy to take off but when you put it back on I didnt even know if it was closed or not. This is my opinion so some other people may disagree, but silly Angel didn't fully put the lid on tightly so it fell off. All you have to do is push it in till it cant be pushed but I have an ocd if I push too hard on a lid to an eyeliner pencil that it might squish the product...yeah im odd.

Conducted some tests to see its power!

Product: 3.5/5 Stars

So the pencil pretty much glided in the skin very smoothly, it was quite pigmented, but not as pigmented as the Milani Liquf'eye (most pigmented eyeliner I have). So I did a few tests to see how it compared with Milani.
Smudge Test: I rubbed pretty hard with my finger and the Milani one smudged more than Dollywink but the Dollywink did smudge only a very small bit.
Water + Smudge: I ran my hand over with warm water, nothing happened so then I started rubbing and guess what? The Milani one started to go off, I was actually really surprised with the results. Dollywink has amazing staying power during the tests!
Used it on my waterline :)
Okay so onto the lasting power on the waterline!
[[I did cheat and reapplied on the "3pm" picture]] But I went out with the Dollywink from 3-6, walking around and eating and it did start melting off the waterline, but Im just happy it didnt run down and create panda eyes like most of the pencil eyeliners I use!

Conclusion:
I really do like this pencil most than the Milani since the Water+Smudging test amazed me a lot. But they are very similar once on the waterline. But I would personally get the Dollywink since it lasts longer than Milani. Milani is much more creamier which wastes more product, in my opinion, but the Dollywink is creamy but isnt so creamy that the product goes low fast. But if you prefer a darker and creamier pencil eyeliner I would recommend Milani, but since I don't like harsh lines I prefer Dollywink. I would definately buy it again.
