Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 005 Silky Beige

Having an oily-combination skin type, it has always been a must to use powder after foundations, bb creams or tinted moisturisers just so it can last longer.
After hearing this product explode through the beauty community it had been in my key interest to try it out.

I bought this at Priceline during one of their 20% off Rimmel sales a few months back for $10.36. (they have the same sale on now aswell!)

The back
It comes in 4 shades, Silky Beige, Transparent, Peach Glow and Cashmere.
I got the shade in 005 Silky Beige, though the shades don't really matter to me since I can't really notice a difference with it on.

Firstly about the packaging, it has a clear lid that you have to twist on and off. I find that when I try to twist it back on it doesn't have a secure stop to it so it will continue twisting even if you use a light hand, I came to the point where I didn't have to twist it any more, I just pulled the lid off.
Also the packaging looked and felt really cheap and flimsy.

As for the product, I did notice that it had very small glitter particles but it wasn't noticeable once I applied it on.
The texture was really smooth, wasn't powdery nor chalky and blended like a dream on the skin.
I use my EcoTools Powder Brush to apply on my T-zone.
Sadly I found that it hung onto the dry areas of my face (around my nose, forehead and some patches on my cheek), which was a let-down but it did mattify my face for a good 3-4 hours!
But during the more hotter days and the times where I had sport during school it didn't last as long as the cooler days. Probably around 2 hours.
Although I can't judge whether it's a good powder or not since it is the second powder I've used. I can easily tell it will be a powder that I'll be using for in the future. I don't like to reapply my make-up through out the day so lasting 3-4 hours is good enough for me!

  2. I really like this powder! I have it in translucent which is really handy. I agree though about the packaging, the twisty-ness is pretty redundant since the lid can just be pulled off.

    1. So glad that they made a translucent version! It would be such a shame for people who have darker or lighter skin than the colour range. Yes the packaging is way too dodgy! I hope they change it soon.

  5. ahh, I dont have a strong fondness for this... It's very thick on the skin in my opinion, I really dont get the huge hype (it's good but..) but hey its cheap and in Australia, it's what we love!
