Essence Eyeshadow in 55 Shrimp Me Up

Obviously most people in the Australian beauty community know about the brand Essence. Known for the cheap pricetag and some of their amazing products but also not so good products.
I have tried their eyeliners (pencil and gel) and I was not a fan of them but I am a big fan of their eyeshadows and this eyeshadow has not disappointed me.

I purchased this at Priceline last year (around September) for $2.85 when they were getting rid of most their stock so most of the products on the Essence shelf was 50% off and more.
I was actually hesitant to purchase this shade because it was a shimmer eyeshadow and I'm a "matte" type of girl, but I needed a pink eyeshadow to go with my formal dress and the price for the eyeshadow was probably the main reason why I bought it. I was surprised no one swatched this eyeshadow since most of the Essence products are usually either dirty, opened or swatched and if you're lucky, unopened.

The packaging of the Essence eyeshadows come in a transparent plastic case with a flip lid. It just looks cheap but it's what you get for the price but the packaging is a lot more sturdy than you think, it does take some strong nails to open it up.
Also I'm guessing the size is similar to the MAC eyeshadows, it does look massive.
The metal case the eyeshadow is depotted in is magnetic so you can depot it into a separate eyeshadow palette. (All of the essence shadows have a magnetic base!)

The eyeshadow seems like a pinky peach colour but when you swatch it, it comes out as a frosty dusty pink colur with really small glitter particles.
It does take some layering over the lids until the colour becomes pigmented, but I find that if you use a light base at first (I use the NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk), the colour becomes a lot more pigmented.
But what I love about this eyeshadow is how smooth it is to apply, it also blends like a charm.

L: Essence eyeshadow over the crease, lids and bottom lashline R: No eyeshadow

Sadly since I do have very oily lids, it does crease on me without a primer (like all eyeshadows).
I did pair the eyeshadow up with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance when I had my year 10 formal. And with 5+ hours of dancing and sweating, it lasted the entire day without creasing.
I wouldnt use this eyeshadow just by itself since the colour can make it seem like you have a rash or that you've been crying the night before. But I do like pairing this with a brown eyeshadow
 in the crease.
I am tempted to try out the other Essence shadows but I have too much eyeshadows that I would never get to the chance of using it.

Have you tried the Essence Single Shadows?

Old vs New? Rimmel London Quad Eye Shadows - 001 Smokey Noir

So awhile back, I was going through my make-up and realised that two of my quads looked exactly the same in terms of colours. And to my surprise they were the same besides the fact that one is called Glam'eyes and the other is called Colour Rush.

If you can't tell, the left is the new formula and packaging (Glam'eyes) the the right is the old version.(Colour Rush).
I bought the Colour Rush back in 2010 when I first started experimenting with make-up (it's actually the first eyeshadow I own), they were selling it in one of those super cheap make-up sales usually nearby Mychemist, I got it for $3.
As for the Glam'eyes I bought it as part of the Rimmel Xmas Pack.

Colour Rush (CR)
The packaging for this isnt that fancy, it's quite cheap and just feels like the lid will break off very soon.
For the colours, clockwise starting at black, I'll just be labelling it as 4, 1, 2, 3 (matching it to the Glam'eyes colours)

Glam'eyes (GE) || clockwise: 4, 2, 3, 1
The packaging to this is much more appealing towards me cause if you didn't know, I have an obsession with  quilted patterns. And the quilted design in the shadows had gotten to me!

Swatches L-R : CR 4, GE 4, CR 2, GE 2, CR 3, GE 3, CR 1, GE 1

As you can see, the Glam'eyes pigmentation was a lot better compared to the Colour Rush, although for all the swatches I probably went over it more than 5 times.
The only matte colours was the black (4) but they did turn out very chalky. On the eyes the black is very sheer and appears to be a dark grey unless you build it up, the dark grey (2) turns out as a light grey on my lids, the silver colour (3) turned out as a very light colour which isn't as noticeable unless on the inner corners  and as for the last colour (1) it didnt even show up as anything except as glitter on the eyes.

Using the GE Quad || 4 on the outer corner, 2 in the center of the lids, 3 on the inner corner  and inner lids, 1 over the top of 3.
I'm pretty disappointed with both the quads, I mean the only usable colour is the black which isnt even black?! But the only good thing is that they upgraded the Colour Rush into a slightly better formula.
So I guess Glam'eyes wins this battle!

Do you prefer old over new or new over old?

Maybelline Color Tattoo-Tough as Taupe

I'm pretty sure most people have heard about the Color Tattoos and its amazing "24hr wear" and the range of colours. I personally really wanted the taupe color seeing as though I have never owned a taupe eyeshadow and it was also non shimmer/glitter and I have a thing for matte eyeshadows!

Purchased this at Priceline while it was on sale for $9.56!
Got the one in 35 Tough as Taupe. I heard some other countries had different names and packaging to the Australian one?
Contains 14oz/4g, quite a lot of product for my use.

The bottom of the Color Tattoo has the sticker on it. I like how it's in a jar form as it is a lot easier to store in my makeup drawer. But I found that the bottom of the jar was kind of wasteful since it was just 1cm of emptiness that could've been filled with product or just removed to make the jar a lot more smaller.

In flash
Accidentally shoved my fingernail in it... :(
The colour looked like a dark taupe colour, its great as an overall lid color or a base aswell!
I use it on my lids and sometimes with some sheer black shadow on the outer corners.

When you dip your fingers in in the product actually looks more darker than what was in the jar.

As for the product it did crease a very very small bit on my lids (I have very oily lids so no surprise) after around 6ish hours, which is amazing for my lids, if you have normal lids it would definitely stay on your lids for along time, maybe 24 hours. But the creasing I didnt mind since it isn't noticeable unless I close my lids. (the skin above my crease fold over my lids so my eyelid is pretty small), but when I used this product on my lower lashline it faded and smudged.

As for the pigmentation it does look like what it looks like once you dip your fingers in it. It's also build able and dries matte!

Swatch:

I would give this product a 4.5/5, it didn't last on my lower lashline sadly.
I would definitely repurchase this though!

Haul!

Went out yesterday to go buy a lace skirt at JayJays but sadly they ran out so I went and bought some stuff to cheer myself up!

Australis Deodorant Body Spray- $3.79 @ Priceline

I was walking bad to the checkout when I passed the deodorant section, I went to see if Impulse was on sale but then I saw another deodorant which was around $2 cheaper than the Impulse deodorant, the Australia! They had a range of different smells but the Vanilla Dream caught my eye because it was yellow and smelt so nice, like vanilla. Smells so yummy!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe- $9.56 @ Priceline

Saw this on the Priceline catalogue on sale and I was so tempted to buy them all but I really wanted the taupe colour since I really never owned a taupe colour and the colour looked so natural on the lid so I finally bought it!

Rubi Lulu Beret in Lemonade & Soft Grey- $5 each @ Rubi Shoes

I have never owned a beret before so I was really excited when I saw this on the Cotton On website! They were $5 each so I went in store at Rubi Shoes and found them at the back where the saled items go, most of the grey berets were marked as $10 but I found on at the very back behind the yellow berets marked at $5. Can't wait to wear them out!

Haul- Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack

Bought the Rimmel Xmas 2011 Pack a few weeks ago at Priceline just for $9, it was marked down from $24.95 to $9 which was a very good deal even though the products were probably on the shelves for a year. But I needed a new eyeliner and instead of buying an eyeliner for $9 I got to have nailpolish, mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner for the same price also including a cute bag that stored them all!

So inside the bag it contained

  • I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 'Cranberry Zest'
  • Glam'Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in 'Smokey Noir'
  • The Max Bold Curves Mascara in 'Black'
  • Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in 'Jet Black'

Tried to make the pictures similar haha. [[Sorry for the blurriness]]

The G Mesh Bag that stored all the products, it was very shiney and flowy. It makes a pretty cool makeup bag for travelling.

I Love Lasting Finish Nail Polish in '066 Cranberry Zest'

It was a hot pink colour on the nails which also smelt like cherries!
I wasn't really into dark colours on my nails but I like doing nail art so this colour might come in handy.

Glam'Eyes Eyeshadow Quad in 'Smokey Noir'

When I saw that the pack came with this, I immediately wanted this. I only thing I usually wear on my eyes is just a very sheer eyeshadow and eyeliner. But I did have a thing for dark, neutral eyeshadows. The colour on the far right made me want it more.

The Max Bold Curves Mascara in 'Black'

Saw this and wasn't really sure if I was going to like it or not, I mean I already had a masara favourite (Maybelline One By One..review coming soon) so I was like, sure why not try a new mascara?!

Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in 'Jet Black'

I pretty much died on the inside when I saw that this was also in the bag. I had been wanting to buy this eyeliner for so long after many people raving about it online. So of course I bought the pack just because of this.

I will be doing reviews on each of the products in the future!

Like my new signature? :)

Rainbow Eye Makeup

You can't really see the green nor purple :(

Products Used:

-DB 48 Colour Eyeshadow Pallette
-Essence Kajal Pencil in 17 Neon Sweetie
-Sportgirl To The Point Liquid Eyeliner
-DB Black Kohl Pencil
-Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

So I was playing with my essence yellow eyeliner since I never actually used it so I really wanted to see what it would just look like with just black eyeliner but I ended up putting yellow eyeshadow over it  and using the eyeliner itself as a base, but I then somehow continued building up the colours by putting a coral red in my crease and outer V and then putting orange in the inner eyelid area.
I then put green eyeshadow on the inner lashline and blue on the outer part.
The inner corners were missing something so I put a purple which ended up not looking so well...
But I lined the top lid thinly with my Sportgirl eyeliner and lined the bottom with my DB black eyeliner pencil and then curled and added mascara.

Im actually really happy with the results since I do have asian eyes so it is quite hard for me to do eyeshadow looks and this is the first time it turned out well (:

&& No I will not do a tutorial since this look wasnt planned and I did do random stuff to it and added random colours in.

Ecotools Eyeshadow Brush Review

I've heard soo many great reviews on the Ecotools brush line. After wanting it for so long but not being able to buy the brush set, I decided to buy the eyeshadow brush.

Price: $7.99

The price seemed decent, wasn't cheap but wasn't expensive but it really is worth its price!

Packaging:

So the brush came in a reusable pouch which I thought was handy for it to be stored in. But the pouch is kind of like a zip lock bag except the lock is very hard to open (well in my opinion it is) took a lot of my strength and fingernails to get the thing open, it was a pain, I did not store my brush in it.
But the pouch does have some good sides to it like the writing on the back, I thought it was cool that it had a Green Tip on the back, taught me some new things! and the pattern on the front was also cool!

Used white eyeshadow to show how much it can pick up

Product:

[[Just going to let you know that this is my first ever eyeshadow brush I own so I cant really compare with other brushes.]]

Pros:

• It picks up the eyeshadow really well
• Very soft
• The bristles are tapered in, so it's easy to get into the inner corners
• No stray hairs yet after a week of using it! :D
• The hair hasnt fallen out

Cons:

• Washing the brush is a pain. (I use soap/dish washing liquid to clean it and the bubbles get into where the metal is)

Conclusion:

I would buy def buy this again, well the other brushes! But the prices are way too pricey for my money in my opinion. but I will be saving up to buy more (:

Essence Eyeshadow- Dream Team

So I found this pretty baby at Target and I really wanted to try out the Essence eyeshadows since there was quite a lot of good reviews about it. I'm also on the hunt of trying out new cheap eyeshadows.

Price: $2

This is probably the reason why I bought it, the price was discounted to $2 in a bowl full of the rejected makeup. For $2 the eyeshadows would equal to $1 per colour which isnt that bad considering that you get quite a lot of product.

Packaging: 3/5

-To be honest, I thought the packaging was quite cool because of the logo on the side.
-It was also a good idea that the lid was a slide out instead of popping it up.
-Very sturdy, but opens easily as well

The eyeshadow is on my lashline and inner corner.

Product: 4/5

Pros:

• It actually lasts on my lashline really well it stayed for around 5 hours and only smudged a small bit.
• It is buildable
• Compact
• Decent pigmentation

Cons:

• Doesn't come with an applicator
• Takes awhile to get the desired amount of colour on since it's buildable.

Conclusion:

Overall I really love this product on my lashline and inner corners, it really does stay on better then my pencil eyeliners and gel liners, I would definately buy it again. It was worth the buy!
